CHRIST THE KING SCHOOL NEWSLETTER THURSDAY 2ND APRIL

Today is the last day of term!   We won't be posting any more work until term resumes on Tuesday 21st April.  We will add holiday activities to our class page from time to time over the holiday... and of course there will be more Harry Potter.

Today's tasks include a round-up of our work on decimals.  I have also included the answers for yesterday's maths so you can see how well you did!

Please finish off any science, topic or Spanish work you may have left to complete.

HAVE A HAPPY EASTER HOLIDAY!

Thursday 2 April - Rounding to one decimal place

SCIENCE

The first activity:

Write me a fact file on a famous scientist.  To help you, I have posted power points on the lives of two famous scientists:  Marie Curie and Stephanie Kwolek.  If you have access to the internet you need to look at this site:

https://www.ducksters.com

Click on 'biographies' and then choose the section 'scientists and inventors' towards the bottom of the page.

PRESENT THE INFORMATION IN A LIVELY AND INTERESTING WAY.

  • Some of you, who are really good at drawing, might want to draw a picture of the scientist and write the information around the picture.
  • Some of you, who have good computer skills, might want to use these to create an electronic fact file.  You could download a picture into a word document and then type your facts.
  • Some of you might want to use bullet points to help present the information.
  • Some of you might want to write a report (like we did on gnomes and unicorns) to tell me what you have found out.
  • Some of you might want to create your own non-fiction book, complete with contents page and index all about your scientists.  (If you really want to, you could write a book about the lives of many scientists.

The second activity:

I have also found 4 experiments you could do at home.  YOU MUST ASK A RESPONSIBLE ADULT IF THIS IS OKAY, BEFORE YOU START!!

SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS TO TRY AT HOME - REMEMBER TO ASK A RESPONSIBLE ADULT IF IT IS OKAY TO DO THESE.

BIOGRAPHIES OF MARIE CURIE AND STEPHANIE KWOLEK

The next part of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - from where we read to on March 20.
