The RE Curriculum

At Christ the King, we follow Lighting the Path, our Catholic Religious Education curriculum. Through scripture, prayer and reflection, children grow in faith and learn how to live out Gospel values in everyday life.

The curriculum is divided into six branches:

  • Creation and Covenant - God's love for Creation and His promises to His people.
  • Prophecy and Promise - God's promises and how they are fulfilled in Jesus.
  • Galilee to Jerusalem - Jesus' life, teachings and miracles.
  • Desert to Garden - Lent, Holy Week, Easter and the hope of the Resurrection.
  • To the Ends of the Earth - The mission of the Church and the work of the Holy Spirit.
  • Dialogue and Encounter - Learning about other faiths and building respect for all.

Through these branches, children develop their knowledge of the Catholic faith while growing as thoughtful, compassionate and reflective members of our school community.

Our School Mission – Autumn 1

At the start of each school year, we spend time exploring our mission statement: “Loving, Learning and Growing Together as Christ’s Family.” Through prayer, worship, discussion and classroom activities, children reflect on what it means to live as part of a caring Catholic community. They learn how our mission statement guides the way we treat one another, approach our learning and grow in faith, helping to shape the values and relationships that underpin life at Christ the King throughout the year.
