Welcome to Duckling 2026/2027. 

My name is Miss Nyilas, and I am the class teacher. I am supported by a fantastic team: Mrs H, Mrs. Juliana, and Miss Cottee. Together, we work hard to create a warm, caring and nurturing environment where every child feels safe, happy and ready to learn.

Ducklings is a small, nurturing SEND class of 12 wonderful children. We are committed to creating a happy, safe and supportive environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to be the very best they can be.

We recognise that every child learns differently, so our curriculum is carefully adapted to meet individual needs, strengths and interests. Through a combination of structured teaching, sensory experiences, play-based learning and communication-focused activities, we provide meaningful opportunities for children to learn, explore and make progress at their own pace.

A key part of learning in Ducklings is our carousel approach. Throughout the day, children work in small groups and take part in a variety of practical activities that support their development. These sessions focus on essential early learning skills such as fine motor development, mark making, sorting and matching, communication and independence. Working in smaller groups allows us to provide tailored support, celebrate successes and help children build confidence in a way that suits them.

We want every child to enjoy coming to school and to develop the confidence to try new things, communicate their needs and take pride in their achievements. We celebrate every success, no matter how small, and encourage children to become kind, resilient and independent learners.

Alongside learning in the classroom, we encourage all children to take part in the wider life of the school community. Through assemblies, celebrations, and special events, our pupils develop important social skills, friendships and a sense of belonging.

We believe that the best outcomes are achieved when school and home work closely together. We look forward to building positive relationships with our families and sharing the many exciting learning experiences, achievements and milestones that we will celebrate together throughout the year.
