For English this morning there is a selection of questions on Kensuke's Kingdom for you to answer. For an extension can you please summarise the story so far in 6 sentences or less. Please make sure you include all the key information.
For topic please look at the pdf file on climate change and answer the question:
What decisions can we make as individuals and as a society to try to slow down the impact of climate change?
Then can you create a poster to show the effects of climate change and what we can do to help.
For your English task today, can you please read chapter 4 of Kensuke's Kingdom.
Can you create a plan for Michael’s next steps.
Then as an additional activity, you have a selection of 9 items.
You can only choose 3 to have on a desert island, what would you choose and why?
If you could take a fourth item what would that be?
For your English task can you please read chapter 3 of Kensuke's Kingdom.
Activity: Write your own ship’s log entry.
Choose a country that the family could have visited (this could be anywhere) and identify an animal that might live there. Include a diary entry of the day you arrived at this country and what you did, along with a picture of the animal and some interesting facts.
This afternoon - Spanish.
Today can you please read chapter 2 of Kensuke's Kingdom. I would like you to think about the last few months at home, what is home schooling like for you? Then I would like you to compare the experience of Michael and his home schooling to that of yours.
After that, can you create a list of pros and cons for home schooling?
Using the list of pros and cons – the children are to create a job advert for the greatest home school teacher. What attributes must they have to do the job successfully? Be adventurous – football skills like Messi and a scientific brain like Einstein…
We are starting a new topic from today: Orangutans (or Orang-utans).
Can you please read the first chapter of Kensuke's Kingdom and then write a letter/postcard from Michael to Eddie, just before the family set off on their voyage.
For Art, your image should take you a few lessons to complete, but your picture should be similar to the style of Henry Rousseau and include an orangutan.
Hope you have a wonderful day!
Today you should write up the advert for your new gadget. Remember the purpose of the advert is to try and sell the product, so you want to make it sound as desirable as possible. Use the model text about the mobile phone and your plan to help you.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Good morning Year 6,
I am missing you all very much and hope you are all keeping really well and safe.
Hopefully you have managed to have a restful Easter break and are feeling refreshed and ready for some more home learning. Please do not forget to register by email between 9 and 9.30 am.
Our topic for the new term is 'Raging Earth'.
Each morning I will be uploading work for you to complete. Please do not worry if you are not able to print anything off or email the work over, these tasks can be completed in the exercise book that was provided to you (Do not forget to write a date and title). If you do not have a home book, then paper or a notebook is fine (just try and keep it altogether in a folder).
Thank you to those who have been emailing their work back to me. However, I do understand that not everyone is able to do this. Answers for tasks such as maths and reading comprehension will be uploaded the day after, so that you can check your own work. If after this, you feel confused about something or want something checked then please email me.
When you have finished your work for the day, can you send me a message on the class blog in Morse Code. Your message must tell me the title and author of the book you are reading at home.
Have a lovely day!
From Monday 23rd of March I will be uploading a Maths, English, either a Spelling, Grammar or Punctuation activity (SPaG) and a wider curriculum task daily. This can be accessed via the school website and will be sent by email: Mrsbloom@christtheking.reading.sch.uk - you will be able to upload your child's work (I suggest you send a separate message rather than replying to a group email). I will be providing feedback on tasks where necessary during school hours. If you are unable to upload the work, most of the children were provided with an exercise book and can therefore record their learning in the book or on paper or via the school blog.
Below I have attached a suggested timetable for your child's home learning. Of course I do not expect these timings to be strictly adhered to; children may possibly have to share devices and therefore I understand that home learning will bring challenges in itself - it is just a guide.
Please remember to register every morning via email between 9:00am and 9:30am.
Thank you for your co-operation and support at this difficult time. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me via my school email.
